Seminar: COVID-19 and Influenza-like Illness Surveillance and Utilisation of Health Databases
In the seminar “COVID-19 and Influenza-like Illness Surveillance and Utilisation of Health Databases” co-organised by the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health (D24H) and the School of Public Health of The University of Hong Kong (HKU SPH) on October 26, 2023, we invited Dr Utkarsh Agrawal to share his insights on how to harness data science and artificial intelligence in addressing healthcare challenges. He also demonstrated how a unique set of clinical and virological data has helped identify and prioritise individuals who are most likely to benefit from future vaccine boosters and COVID-19 therapeutics in the United Kingdom.
Dr Agrawal is currently a Research Fellow (Senior Health Data Scientist) at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences of the University of Oxford, and has been leading projects on infectious diseases, including studies on the effectiveness and safety of vaccines.
The seminar was moderated by Dr Kathy Leung, Co-Investigator of the D24H and Assistant Professor of HKU SPH.
