Conference: Infectious Disease Modelling Conference 2024

The Infectious Disease Modelling Conference 2024 (IDM 2024) places a special emphasis on infectious disease modelling that informs health policymaking. This three-day conference provides a unique platform to share the latest ideas, data, methods, models and insights with academics, researchers, health professionals and policymakers worldwide, with a focus on addressing the specific challenges faced by low- and middle-income countries.

Key Objectives:

Latest Development in Infectious Disease Modelling: Highlight cutting-edge research, methodologies, and breakthroughs that shape our understanding of infectious disease dynamics.
Policy Relevance: Engage policymakers in evidence-based discussions to inform public health decisions. Bridge the gap between research and practical implementation.
Strengthening LMIC Capacity: Explore strategies to enhance infectious disease modeling capabilities in LMICs, considering resource constraints and unique epidemiological contexts. Empower researchers and practitioners in these regions.
Region-Specific Challenges: Discuss modeling approaches that account for the diverse population structure, urbanization, and cultural factors prevalent in specific geographical regions and contexts.
Equitable Access to Modeling Tools: Promote the adoption of methodologies and share best practices to ensure that all countries can benefit from advanced infectious disease modeling development.

Conference Highlights:

Research Studies: Engage with presentations on disease modeling efforts, where experts will share their latest findings, highlight successes, discuss challenges, and delve into valuable lessons learned.
Panel discussion: Researchers and policymakers will share their experiences and discuss how infectious disease modeling informs decision-making. Explore strategies to prepare for future pandemics, including “Disease X.”
Collaboration and Networking: Connect with fellow participants from diverse backgrounds, fostering cross-country and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Capacity Building Opportunities: Organized sessions to empower early-career researchers and practitioners to share their insights in modeling infectious diseases. Early career networking sessions provide a platform to exchange ideas, share experiences, and build lasting partnerships in the career paths.

Organizers:

– The Hong Kong Jocky Club Global Health Institute, The University of Hong Kong
– Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program, Thailand

The conference is also supported by the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health and the School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong.

The IDM 2024 is now calling for proposals for organized sessions and submissions of abstracts. Registration is also opened.
